Collections

When your site needs more than pages.

Collections hold the things your site has several of, such as the team, past work or services. Each gets a page of its own, and they all share one design.

Lists that keep themselves

Collections

Many of one kind, each with a page of its own.

Your blog is already a collection. Make your own for whatever your site has several of: the team, past work, services, the courses you run, the rooms you rent out.

The details each one has

A team member has a photo, a role and a short biography. A wedding in your portfolio has the couple, the year and the venue. Every item gets the same boxes, so none of them is missing the part the others have.

A page each, designed once

Every item has its own address and its own page, and they all share one layout. Redesign it once and every item page follows, including the ones you added a year ago.

Lists that keep themselves

A page can list the collection, newest first or in an order you set, or only the ones with a certain tag. Add an item and it appears in the list without the list being edited.

Addresses that hold

Items sit under the collection’s own address, like /team/sarah-lee. Change the collection’s address and every item moves with it, with a forward from each old address so nothing that linked to them breaks.

Setting one up

A sentence, a form, and Publish.

You never design a database. You say what you keep track of and the rest is filling in a form.

01

You ask

“Add a team page where each person has a photo, a role and a short bio.” That is the whole request.

02

It sets out the details

MightyBuilder makes the collection, decides what each item holds and what kind of value each detail is, and builds the pages that show them.

03

You fill them in

Or tell it the facts in the chat. Anything it does not know it leaves empty and tells you, rather than making something up.

04

You publish

Publishing checks everything first. A detail you marked as essential that is still empty stops it and says which one.

Why it holds together

Built so a detail cannot quietly go wrong.

Nothing made up

The AI never invents a phone number, a price or opening hours. A detail nobody has given it stays empty, and it says so.

Checked as you save

Every detail has a kind. An email has to be an email, a date a date, and a link a real web address, so a typo is caught in the box rather than on the live site.

No holes from tidying up

A collection a page lists cannot be switched off. Removing a detail a page still shows is stopped at Publish with the page named.

Questions about collections

Do I need to know any code?

No. You ask for what you want in a sentence and MightyBuilder sets it up. Filling it in is a form with one box per detail, and each box says what goes in it.

Where do my phone number and opening hours go?

Into the part of the site that shows them on every page, usually the footer. It is written once and every page shows the same one, so changing it is one edit.

Is my blog a collection?

Yes. Every site starts with an articles collection, which is the blog. You can give it more details than a title and a date, such as an author, and every article gets a box for it.

Can I change the details later?

Yes. Ask for a new detail, reword the label on one you have or put them in a different order, and what you already filled in stays where it was. Removing a detail a page still shows is stopped at Publish with the page named, so tidying up never leaves a hole on the live site.

Is it on every site?

Yes. Collections are part of every site, and the plans differ in other ways, which the pricing page sets out.
